Megan

Hi, I’m Megan, the founder and co-owner of Purrs at Home! I live in Renfrew with my two rescue cats, Charlie and Oscar, who keep me endlessly entertained.

Cats have been part of my life from the very beginning—my parents had four cats when I was born, so I grew up surrounded by them. I often joke that I’ve been a cat lady since day one! Over the years, that love has only grown stronger, shaping not only my home life but also my career.

I’ve worked in two different veterinary practices as well as at Pets at Home, where I gained invaluable hands-on experience in animal care, behaviour, and welfare. Today, I work as an Animal Rescue Officer with the SSPCA, where I help animals in need and see firsthand just how much compassion and patience they deserve. This role has deepened my knowledge of cat care, particularly when it comes to health, wellbeing, and handling more complex situations with empathy and calm.

At home, Charlie and Oscar have been my greatest teachers. Through them, I’ve learned how to confidently give medication, monitor health conditions, and appreciate the importance of enrichment in keeping cats both happy and healthy. They’ve shown me how different every cat’s personality can be, and how important it is to tailor care to each individual.

Because I know the feeling of missing my own cats whenever I’m away, I completely understand how worrying it can be to leave yours in someone else’s care. That’s why I started Purrs at Home—to offer cat owners peace of mind, knowing their cats are being looked after by someone who genuinely cares.

As Purrs at Home has grown, I’ve chosen to bring Alex on board to help care for our clients’ cats. I would only ever trust people to look after your cats who I’d trust with my own. Together, we’re committed to making sure every cat feels safe, loved, and understood until you’re back home with them.

I can assure you that when your cats are cared for by Purrs at Home, they’re in the very best hands.

Meet Our Team

Alex

Hi, I’m Alex, and I’m the co-owner of Purrs at Home! I’ve loved cats ever since I was little and had one of my own growing up—a ginger cat called Ambrose. When I moved in with Megan, I couldn’t wait to have cats again—and now we share our home with our two rescue cats, Charlie and Oscar.

Between Megan’s experience and everything I’ve learned from caring for Charlie and Oscar, I’ve gained a lot of hands-on knowledge about cat care. They’ve taught me so much—especially when it comes to giving medicine, monitoring health conditions, and understanding how important enrichment is for keeping cats happy and healthy.

I’ve developed a special interest in cat enrichment, from creating fun play sessions to finding new ways to keep cats mentally and physically stimulated indoors.

I know how important it is for cats to feel safe and cared for when their humans are away, and I treat every cat like they’re my own
